Ultimaker and BASF Forward AM have released the Metal Expansion Kit, which allows users to print functional steel parts on their Ultimaker S5 3D printer at a significantly lower cost compared to other metal production methods. The kit includes specially optimized Ultimaker Print Cores for printing metal and ceramic support materials, as well as BASF Forward AM filaments and post-processing services integrated into the Ultimaker workflow. The kit also provides access to optimized software, e-learning modules, and other accessories. The Metal Expansion Kit combines 17-4 PH stainless steel with a metal-optimized support material, offering high-strength parts with complex geometries. The kit is available through Ultimaker's network of resellers for an MSRP of €1,199 ($699) in Europe, with a lower price outside of Europe due to differing contents. Metal 3D printing on the Ultimaker S5 requires no hardware modifications, making it a versatile solution for printing both plastic and metal.
