In Brent Griffith’s first meeting at Labconco in early 2020, he suggested using 3D printing to produce a small pan stake for their new product instead of injection molding. This led to the implementation of 3D printing at Labconco and the purchase of multiple printers, including SLS and SLA printers. With the use of 3D printing, Labconco has been able to improve existing products, save on tooling costs, and speed up development. They have also added the Fuse Blast, an automated blasting system, which has improved surface smoothness and part quality. The automation of post-processing has significantly reduced labor time and improved part performance. Labconco plans to further expand their 3D printing capabilities in the future.
