Case Study: Patient-Specific Anatomical and Surgical Cutting Guide Models at Yale
Synopsys Simpleware software was utilized by Yale University to create 3D virtual surgical models for guiding wire placement in osteoporotic proximal femur Sawbone models. This software allows for the processing of CT or MRI imaging to develop accurate anatomical models, conduct surgical planning, print customized surgical guides, and advance clinical research. Three different guides were designed and 3D printed using a Form 3 SLA 3D Printer from Formlabs to optimize implant placement for each implant system. A trauma fellowship-trained orthopedic surgeon utilized these 3D printed guides to position drill bit tipped guide wires in fragile hip bone models. CT scans were taken to measure displacement and angular deviations at the guide wire entry using Simpleware software. For more information, read the full article: Read more.
