Lonypack Global, a cured meat and dairy slicing company, decided to incorporate 3D printing technology in early 2022 to optimize its production process. With the help of Sicnova and UltiMaker 3D printers, Lonypack aimed to develop new component designs that would improve efficiency and customization in its state-of-the-art plant located in Spain. By using 3D printing, Lonypack was able to create parts for robot arms and cutters at a cost saving of up to 70%. The company also achieved a reduction in lead times by 70% compared to previous deliveries. Lonypack used the food-safe PETG-S filament from Kimya, ensuring the printed parts were suitable for food contact. With the success of their first experience with 3D printing, Lonypack believes that more food companies will adopt this technology in the future.
