Victoria Hand Project, a Canadian charity, is aiming to democratize access to prosthetic care in Ukraine through its Hands for Ukraine initiative. The organization utilizes 3D printing technology to provide affordable and customized prosthetic hands to individuals with limb loss. By partnering with clinics in Ukraine and using UltiMaker 3D printers, Victoria Hand Project is able to produce prosthetic arm sockets directly on-site, reducing costs and empowering local communities. The organization's choice of materials, including BASF PRO1 and PLA, ensures the durability and comfort of the prosthetic hands. The Victoria Hand, one of the first 3D printed prosthesis, offers a mix of 3D-printed and metallic components for increased functionality. Victoria Hand Project envisions further growth and development in the field of 3D-printed prosthetic and orthotic devices, with the goal of establishing community-based print centers to enhance local healthcare capacity.
